Anaga, Tenerife

Las Mercedes → Roque Negro, Anaga

A route through the mountains and forests of Anaga from Las Mercedes to Roque Negro, suitable as a base for Healing Hiking — conscious hiking combined with meditation, attention practices and direct contact with nature.

Hikes across Tenerife that combine movement along the route with meditation, attention work, body-based and energy practices, and direct contact with nature.

This is not a sightseeing tour and not a sports hike focused on covering distance. The route becomes a space for practice — a chance to step out of your usual rhythm, feel your body and state more deeply, and become more present to the environment around you.

Route
Las Mercedes → Roque Negro, Anaga
Typical duration
Around 7 hours
Difficulty
Medium

This route passes through one of the most atmospheric parts of Anaga: forest, mountain roads and trails, open viewpoints, and a gradual transition from more accessible areas toward Roque Negro.

Within Healing Hiking, the route matters not only as a way of getting from A to B. It creates a natural structure for practice: movement, periods of silence, pauses, contact with the body, attention to the surrounding space, and working with one’s state directly in nature.

The exact set of practices should not be permanently fixed at route level. It depends on the theme and conditions of the specific Event, the state of the group, the weather, and the duration of the hike.

This route may include:

  • conscious walking;
  • sections walked in silence;
  • breathing and meditation practices;
  • attention and body-awareness work;
  • energy practices;
  • interaction with the elements and natural environment;
  • pauses for observation, rest and integration.

These are possible elements of the format, not a mandatory programme for every occurrence.

The route as a space for practice

A hike already changes your state: the body starts moving, attention shifts, and the usual environment falls away.

In Healing Hiking, we use this consciously.

Walking is interwoven with pauses, silence, and practices. In one place, breathing and body awareness may be more important; in another, meditation, contact with the elements, or simply observing what is happening inside.

The point is not to keep “doing something” all the time. It is to create conditions in which nature, movement, and practice begin to work as one process.

Not a backdrop, but a space for interaction

Anaga is especially well suited to this format.

Laurel forests, mountain ridges, mist, wind, rocks, ocean, and abrupt changes in landscape continually shift the quality of perception.

In one place, it feels natural to stop and stay in silence. In another, to work with breathing and movement. Sometimes attention turns inward toward the body. Sometimes outward toward space, sound, wind, earth, or ocean.

I do not separate the practice from the place where it happens.

The exact route, duration, and physical intensity always depend on the specific HikingRoute / Event.

Practices are chosen for the route and the process

The exact content depends on the route, the theme, the weather, and the state of the group.

  • conscious walking;
  • parts of the route in silence;
  • breathing practices;
  • meditation;
  • attention and body-awareness work;
  • simple energy practices;
  • interaction with the elements and natural environment;
  • free movement;
  • pauses for observation and inner work;
  • group reflection;
  • time for personal experience and integration.

Not every hike will include all of these elements. The format stays alive and adapts to the route and the group.

A few hours outside your usual rhythm

Healing Hiking usually lasts several hours or most of a day.

The group is small.

Each event has its own route, duration, and level of physical intensity. Some may be relatively gentle walks with practices; others may be full mountain hikes.

Before joining, the specific Event page should clearly state:

  • duration;
  • start and finish points;
  • route;
  • difficulty level;
  • what to bring;
  • participation terms and price / donation, if defined.

If you want to be in nature as more than a tourist

Healing Hiking may be especially relevant if you want to:

  • step out of your usual urban or home context for a while;
  • combine physical movement with inner practice;
  • spend time in nature as more than a tourist;
  • reset overloaded attention;
  • reconnect with your body and state;
  • experience meditation and energy practices outdoors;
  • feel nature and your interaction with it more deeply;
  • discover Tenerife from a different perspective.

Previous experience with meditation or energy practices is usually not required. Physical requirements depend on the specific route and should always be stated in advance.

Group or individual format

Group Healing Hiking

A small group and a preselected route. This is the main public format: specific dates are published as Events and connected to the relevant HikingRoute.

Individual Healing Hiking

The route and process can be adapted to a specific person, their state, physical condition, and current request.
