Las Mercedes → Roque Negro

From green stillness to the mountain trails of Anaga.

This is a path that invites you to slow down, look more closely and listen to your own footsteps. We set out from Las Mercedes towards Roque Negro — not to break records, but to connect with nature and ourselves.

Between woodland and open space

Anaga can change its mood along the way. Shaded stretches may give way to mountain slopes and wide views, before attention returns to the trail underfoot. Here, it is easy to notice how movement changes your perception of a place.

There is more to this route than the scenery. It offers time away from the usual rush, without the need to keep doing, discussing or evaluating things.

How we walk this route

We pay attention to both the trail and the state of the group. Pace, stops and practices adapt to the circumstances.

  1. Starting out — Las Mercedes.

We meet, check that everyone is ready for the route and settle into the walk.

  2. Along the way.

We walk, stop when needed and occasionally bring our attention back to breathing, the body and the world around us.

  3. Towards Roque Negro.

We continue with the weather, the group’s abilities and the chosen route option in mind.

The exact meeting point, schedule, sequence of trail sections and transport are specified for each outing.

There is no need to rush past yourself here

On this trail, practice is part of the walk. Sometimes it is enough to notice your step or your breath more closely. Sometimes we walk quietly, notice tension, or pause and simply look around.

I walk with the group, help people notice how they feel and offer practices where they fit naturally. There is no rigid script and no expectation of having a special experience.
